Delay Repay

If your train ran 15 minutes late or more, you can claim compensation from the train operator — whatever caused the delay. Here's how it works when you've booked with Raileasy+.

What you can claim

Compensation is based on how late you arrived at your destination, not how late the train departed. Most operators pay out from 15 minutes; a small number start at 30 minutes — the operator's website will confirm which scheme applies.

Booked a Rail & Stay package?

Delay Repay covers the rail portion of your package

Your claim goes to the train operator, and it's based on what you paid for the rail part of your booking. You'll find that breakdown in Manage Bookings under your booking's price details — you'll need it for the claim form. Hotel and attraction costs aren't covered by Delay Repay.

How to claim

  1. 1

    Find your train operator

The operator is named on your e-ticket and in your confirmation email. If your journey used more than one operator, claim from the one whose train was delayed.

  2. 2

    Gather your booking details

You'll need your e-ticket, the date and time of the delayed train, and the rail price from your booking. Everything is in Manage Bookings — no account needed, just your booking reference and email.

  3. 3

Submit the claim within 28 days

Claims are made on the operator's website and take about five minutes. Most operators pay out within 14 days, by bank transfer or back to your card.

Common questions

The delay wasn't the operator's fault. Can I still claim?

Yes. Delay Repay is a no-fault scheme — weather, infrastructure problems and other operators' incidents all count. The only thing that matters is how late you arrived.

I missed a connection and arrived late. Does that count?

Yes, if the missed connection was caused by a delayed train on your booked itinerary. Compensation is based on your arrival time at your final destination, so claim from the operator whose delay started the chain.

Can Raileasy+ claim on my behalf?

Not yet — claims must go to the train operator directly. We give you everything the form asks for: your rail price breakdown, journey times and e-ticket are all in Manage Bookings.

My train was cancelled and I didn't travel at all

That's a refund rather than Delay Repay. If a cancellation meant you couldn't travel, contact us and we'll arrange a full refund of the rail portion — and work with the hotel on your behalf if you couldn't make your stay.
